HCJB World Radio received licence
approval for
Christian radio station in southern Russia
Christians have received government permission to start a Christian FM station
in the southern Russian city of Vladikavkav which is just 50 miles from Grozny,
the capital of war-torn Chechnya. HCJB World Radio recently signed a partnership
agreement with North Ossetia Mission to put the station on the air.
HCJB helped out the ministry with a demonstration transmitter in 1996, and
daily broadcasts are expected to begin soon. This is the latest in
HCJB World Radio's "radio planting" ministry--helping start local
radio stations around the world. Since 1990 the mission has worked with more
than 110 partners in more than 70 countries to put Christian broadcasts on the
air, often in areas formerly closed to missionary efforts.
